The Gilera-MV Agusta rivalry 1950-1966

The Gilera-MV Agusta rivalry 1950-1966

Of all the rivalries in motorcycle road racing, that which endured between Gilera and MV Agusta, was arguably the most fearsome; a civil war between two leviathans of motorcycling history, near neighbours who fought out numerous battles with squads populated by some of the finest riders of all time, riding some of the most wonderful machines in race history; the scarlet and silver "Fire Engines".

The Gilera-MV rivalry 1950-1966

by Raymond Ainscoe and Gianni Perrone

Of all the rivalries in motorcycle road racing, that which endured between Gilera and MV Agusta, from 1950 to 1966, was arguably the most fearsome; a civil war between two leviathans of motorcycling history, near neighbours who fought out numerous battles with squads populated by some of the finest riders of all time, riding some of the most wonderful machines in race history; the scarlet and silver "Fire Engines".

It was not unusual for riders and designers to be 'poached' between Gallarate and Arcore.

This is a 88-page, large format book with many black and white photographs.

Foreword by Alfredo Milani, works Gilera solo and sidecar rider.

Within FoTTofinder Bikesport Photo Archives we have photographs of most of the Gilera and MV riders and machines who rode the TT and the Ulster GP, contact us for details.
